This question originated in a comment I made on Som Bhatta‘s post (Make the playing field even by Som Bhatta on Women in India). Here’s the detailed version:
Change doesn’t happen by wishing away all the ills.We need to work on methods to make change happen. We already have an established social structure and we cannot wish it away … Just denouncing the present system will not do. What alternative do you propose ? How do you incentivise people to make that change ? How do you minimize any damage caused by that change ?
Please don’t answer with vague banalities like “start respecting women” or “change the culture”. I am looking for actions and changes that normal people can implement in their lives.
